Drew or Stewart,,,,,,,,,have either one of you given any thought to the upcoming Spring Plow day as far as a date yet? My youngest brother is chomping at the bit to come play in the dirt. He is building one of the 400s that I bought from Tommy Austin last year. |

Hey Drew & Stewart...Wish I could have been there with y'all. From all your photos and videos, you guys had ideal weather and soil to plow. My plow tractors these days are my Cub Cadet Model 73 with a #8 Brinly plow & my 1948 Cub with a 152 Disc plow. Might be able to set up my JD 112 to plow by Fall? THANKS for all the photos guys ...Elliott |

David..............in my case, I changed mine to the wide stance because the inside of the tires line up better.......makes it easier to stay in the furrow........not to mention it looks "COOL".......lol |

Great pics Drew!! Question for those of you with a large frame JD. Is there any benefits to plowing with the wheels in the wider stance or does it matter? Personal preference? Thanks |

Gota love the diesels! Looks like some nice rolling soil. Plowing sod is always enjoyable. Doug got excited when he saw the stack of 50 lb weights on that black machine... |

Thanks for the video and pictures. It looks like the plowing conditions were near perfect. I definitely missed a very good PD. WOW. 8 tractors, 12 acres = 1.5 acres per tractor. Now that is my kind of a Plow Day.... |

Jeff, all Lee could talk about coming home is finding him a 318. We have him on the line, just have to reel him in. Thanks again, everyone. It was an awesome day of plowing, and a pleasure to meet you all. |

You two always seem to pull it all together for us. Keep up the good work. |

Drew or Stewart How many acres was that field we plowed? This was by far the best plow day I have been to.Field conditions were perfect,Plow was set up perfect before hand,322 ran great with no issues, and a small group of people that I personally consider to be my friends. Could not ask for a better plow day. AJ |

Daniel let Lee know I hope its a easy fix. He was plowing well. He left it out side for the gnomes to remove it and replace with a 318. Ron the mods were a success. From friday start to saturday finish only adjustments was to top link. flawless plowing. Rob the soil does have a good amount of sand. |

Well, we made it home alive. AJ, I guess the cub had enough for one day, Lee wouldn't even let me pull it to his shop with a chain. He just shoved it off the trailer, and left it sitting in his yard....lol. Jeff, i got pretty burned also, just didn't realize it until i got in the a/c driving home. Drew and Stewart, Thank ya'll very much for inviting us, we had a really great time, and are already looking forward to the next PD. |

Sorry to hear that, Mike. It's never a good thing to break down, but to break down towing a full trailer and to add insult to injury, to break down that far from home........ On a better note, Adam dropped a hint in the Vintage forum about 3 Missouri plow events this year!!!!! |

I won’t be seeing you guys this weekend, not that I didn’t try. Left the house at noon yesterday and made it about 160 miles before my truck started losing power. Turned around and limped back to the nearest large town to a dealer to have them look at it and determine what the problem could be. Long story short, it’s the right side catalytic converter not allowing the cylinders on the right side to fire. They thought I could probably make it back to St. Louis, but that didn’t work out to well. I made it another 50 -60 miles before I had absolutely no power at all. Called the state police and they arranged to have a tow truck that could haul the truck and tow my trailer with my two tractors on it to a dealer 15 miles from there. My son in law dove down with his truck and picked me & my trailer up and I arrived back home around 10 last night. Talked to the dealer this morning and they are saying it’s the injectors. Now the fun begins, trying to arrange to get the truck repaired that is at a dealer 100 miles away, I’m starting to get that “bent over feeling” if you catch my drift. I did have a good conversation with the tow truck driver about garden tractors; he and his father in law build pulling tractors. All things considered, I think there is a little irony in there some place. Have fun guys and someone make a round for me. |

OK EVERYONE PLEASE READ I am not going to be able to be around Friday most of the day due to work. I should be available around 3:30, I am very sorry, and this is beyond my control. Stewart however will be the best contact should you need anything Friday. Now The Weather Situation I am very hopeful to meet some new people this time. I know its a long way to travel for most of you, That is why I want to give out every detail we know about the weather, and field conditions. They are giving rain for Thursday Night, into Mid-day Friday. Totals of up to 1 1/2 maybe more in some places. The futher north west in AL you are the more rain you get. Now, with that being said, The field is no soaked, nor is it a dust bowl. It can stand a little rain, but no 2 inches. Again, This is not to deter anyone from coming, but to give you ALL the information we have avaliable for YOU to make a decision. We are not meteorologist, nor can we control the weather, All we know is what we see and hear. Again, Please use your own judgement. Hope to see you Friday, and Saturday Drew |

I’m all loaded up and ready to hit the road sometime tomorrow, unfortunately it appears I’ll be driving in the rain for while. I should be there by noon, might drive straight thru of stop and spend the night at a motel along the way if I get tired. John – I do remember that PD, your wife and her friend built a snowman, got a pic of that somewhere. I’m bringing the 420 & 430 so you can use one of them. Have a safe trip. |

Well, after a couple of weeks of Alan working his tail off the industrial tractor is complete except for me to get the backfiring corrected. We have done everytihng I know of with the parts we have on hand to no avail. I guess we will order some electrical items from Deere and try to have it ready for the Redneck plow day. In the meantime we will be there Friday afternoon with one of the others. See you all soon. Jim |

JRL,The Hampton inn is the newest place to stay in Guntersville,"great choice"...I looked over the list and these are the ones that are Stewart mann approved.Papa Dubis if you like cajun,Giovannis has the best pizza but it is in Albertville just a few miles south from the H Inn on US 431.Asia garden has the best Chinese ,it's in Albertville also but its worth the short drive.KC's coyote in Guntersville has great seafood, steaks ,wine ect but it is pricey.Los arcos has good mexican and Jeffersons in Albertville has good wings and burgers.Hope this helps.have a safe trip and we will see you soon. John Lang's coming; now you've got yourself a plow day! Somebody put that man on a tractor. I want to get to an AL plow day, not this one, just doesn't work out and that $4 gas slows me down. I told Josh if I bought a different truck we'd have to go. Mike |

Sure I remember you AJ, but that Iowa plowday at Rockford wasn't quite snowed out, even though my wife Rosie and friend Emira made a snowman inthe snow near the fencerow! It was still fun and we plowed a lot of the field. |

Well, My wife Rosie, has agreed to come along to this plow day, but I checked the weather forecast and am concerned! What do you guys think! When will you decide whether it is a go or no go? We would be leaving Thursday night for the 800+ miles trip. Not bringing any tractors, just my wife and cameras! |

First and foremost, I’ glad all of you made to through the violent storms alright, PD’s are great but take a back seat to our family’s welfare. John – it’s 585 miles and 8 hours 6 minutes according to Mapquest from my place. Of course that is if I don’t stop for gas, food or that inevitable health break. I figure it’s more like 9 ½ - 10 hours. I didn’t know your wife was undergoing chemo treatment, I hope she is doing well. Tell her that I agree, I won’t sleep in my pickup either. My route takes me close to or thru some of the area’s that were hit by tornados. They are trying to put their lives back together, some have suffered the loss of a loved one or friend while I am out to have fun while ignoring their suffering. I had made up my mind to attend this PD before the storms last week, but now I need to think this over a little more. |

When I was a kid, we never worried about tornadoes much here in the south. Now, we have to take them very serious. |

John, No damage in our immediate area this go around. Lets hope it stays that way. April 27th last year was bad for our area, as for many others. Would be great if you could come. I bet you could take some AWESOME pictures down here. I really enjoy looking at all the pictures you take. |

Hey Mike G. I just talked to my wife and Emira to see if they would come with me to Alabama for the plowday and got a thumbs down! Emira doesn't want to stay in a motel at this time since she just got done with Chemo and my wife won't sleep in my van or pickup! Oh well, I asked! I did a BING map search and directions and it said it would be 796.5 mi, 12 hr 30 min from my place. Looks like it would be thru the tornado area. Hope all you WFM members are getting along OK! |

Rob you can do it. Ol BB was here today and is coming back in a few weeks to plow along with Rick Harris. Also Dave Kamp is going to try and get here, but hes doing a big job in Ga next week, so he dosnt know for sure. What you need to do is jump in the care and use somone elses tractor. Heck all the plow days are for is meeting people and shooting the breeze with a little bit of dirt plowin. If you can get there Id try, its a lot of fun and Drew and Stewart are good hosts. I made it one year and it was a lot of fun and the guys are great. Jeff too! |

First off let me apologize, I put the wrong address down for the field, It should read. 6458 Pleasant Grove Rd. Guntersville AL 35976. Not 6548, Again, sorry for the mistake. Terry, if you would correct that for me on the first post, I sure would appreciate it. Just wanted to give and update on the hotels in the area. I checked the price of 2 hotels in Guntersville AL. These are about 3 miles from the field Hampton Inn 14451 U.S. Hwy 430 South. Guntersville AL. 35976 Phone: (256)582-4176 www.guntersville.hamptoninn.com $89.00 1 Adult $94.00 2 Adults. Days Inn Guntersville 14040 US Hwy 431 Guntersville AL 35976 Phone: (256)582-3200 $67.00 2 Beds Smoking or Nonsmoking $63.00 1 Bed. Smoking or Nonsmoking There is the Microtel Inn in Albertville. I think a few guys have stayed here and always had good things to say about it. Its about 8 miles from the field. Microtel Inn & Suites 220 Hwy 75 north Albertville AL. 35951 Phone: (256)894-4000 Resv: 800-771-7171 www.microtelinn.com Double Bed Room $64.20 She told me if 5 or more people book a room the price would be $59.00 I will leave that up to you guys. They only have 4 smoking, and 3 non smoking rooms avaliable for March 9th, so make your reservations A.S.A.P. The Jameson Inn in Albertville has no rooms avaliable for March 9th. Here are some field pics Stewart and I took today. Field 1 This is a view from the White House in the pic, back toward Pleasant Grove Rd. This was taken from Marsh Rd.
Again, from the same spot looking at the end of field 1
Main Parking Area on Pleasant Grove Rd.
Field 1 Again, Look at the trees at the end of the field for reference points.
View toward Marsh Rd. And a cutting harrow someone will pull.
Field 2
Areial View. Fields are highlighted in Green
Now, Unless our tractor count increases dramaticly, we should be able to start plowing a little around noon on friday, and not come close to running out of ground. So come on down. |

Mike, That would make a nice road trip. Want a passenger? We need to start looking for a good spot for a Missouri spring plow day. That would be great for those of us who can't make the logistics work for a 9 hour one way road trip to participate in a spring event. I need to start talking to some land owners. |

I’m thinking about making the trip to see you guy’s and plow a little of that Alabama dirt. It’s a 9 hour drive so it will take a little planning. Still mulling it over but if I would make the trip, what motels around there would you guys could recommend? When Friday are you meeting at the field? |

This will be a very good field.I plan to take pics Sunday and get it on here for everyone to see.....I am very excited and hope everyone can make it.The reason for the short notice was..1 we had a hard time finding a field,2 the man that farms the field wants to start his planting in April. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the weather stays in our favor. As for now we will set the rain date for March 17... Also we plan on doing some night plowing friday. There is aprox 23 acres. |
