Hi everyone, I picked up a Mott mower over the weekend and started to clean it up and get it fixed up. There were two guards, for the front and back that are supposed to keep debris from flying out, but they are in pretty rough shape. I plan to make a chain guard, like on a brush hog but was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get short pieces of chain, like three or four inches long, or three of four links. I thought about buying a length and then cutting the links and welding them back together, but figured there might be a easier way. Thanks for any info Adam |

What about a pair or tire chains? There might be enough chain on there and it would be the smaller chain and there cheap. If this interests you I have 3 1/2 pairs of chains. I'll look and see if it is for a 8.5 or a 10.5 tire. You can have the chain if you pay the shipping |

Adam , go to a city maintenance shop or county shop and ask for their worn out truck tire chain links, they would work great I think, and free.... |

Adam Is your Mott a flail? I believe chain guards have a tendency to be eaten by flail mowers. |

I planned on using a four inch piece of steel and bolt it to where original guards were to move the chains out from the flails. I don't want to hang them directly off the body of the mower. |
