Wondering if anyone knows who's tractor this is? Was at the Rockford plow day a few years back.
Had some overheating problems, but he went back out to plow later so must have fixed it.

Hope someone can ID the tractor/driver so I can contact them. There is a reason I'm asking. Picked 3 engines up tonight: That one is complete and a runner.
Other 2, one is missing the valve cover, other the injector pump. Hope to make 1 runner out of the pair. Need a flywheel and starter, I'm hoping the ones I have off the 322 I parted out will work. Will have to try them.
Thinking I will use a radiator off a dirt bike/small motorcycle and an alternator off a Geo or something. Engines are 2 cylinder yanmar diesels, 0.46 Liters out of thermo king units. They are mini versions of the 3 cylinders in the 332/430 complete with glow plugs. |

I'd also be interested to know more about the motors...might be a fun project for the new 318! |

Surplus Center has one that is 0.57L and they list shipping weight at 235. That probably includes a crate. I had been looking for a little 2 cylinder ever since seeing how nice it fit in that 140. This will be more of a long term project since I currently have my 420 torn apart to fix the trans cooler leak and an engine oil pan leak. |

Whoever owns that tractor needs a shroud around the fan for it to pull air through the radiator. Thatd be why its overheating. |

Mike, Where/what is the Surplus Center? I'd be interested in that sized motor for my own rig, but when you do a Google search for it, you get mostly GI surplus. |

The first one to pop on when you google "surplus center": https://www.surpluscenter.com/home.asp Link to the diesel engines: https://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?catname=engines&keyword=NED1 Keep in mind many of these engines dont have raditors/alternators, some dont have exhaust, some are fixed speed governors for generators. It appears that my engines are 2tn66 models (cast into the injection pump area). 66x64.2mm bore x stroke (same as the 322,330 and 332 engines, minus a cylinder). 10.9hp at 3600rpm. |

Thanks for the links...that is weird, when I did the search, that wasn't the first thing that popped up. Must have typed something slightly off of what I meant to do. |

Mike, Is the one complete engine you have a fixed speed on the governor being it came from a Thermo king? Is there an easy way to make it an adjustable speed that you know of? |

I dont know the one that is complete is variable speed, but does not appear to have a second lever for fuel shutoff. It idles down very very low and then I just stop it by putting friction on the flywheel hub. The other 2 have a separate lever for shutdown. Some of the other brands on surplus center list a governor kit in the description to make them variable speed. I stripped some of the brackets off the engine for the isolation mounts and also got a few radiators to try on it. Hope to get the radiator plumbed in and get it up to temperature to check everything out. |

Where is the fuel tank in the fist photo? Is it the green tank high right? Obviously it's not in the "regular" 140 location |

What is the # of that nice big oil filter on the engine in the 3rd picture?? Any chance it would fit under the side panels on a 332??? |

Those are Carrier part numbers on the filters. Will have to write it down and post along with the length. Here is a video of the 2 cylinder running with a radiator attached. Ran it for about 45 minutes shutting it down and starting it up probably 5 times in between. Seems to be a good healthy engine with some diesel smoke on acceleration. http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/duwem/?action=view¤t=yanmar2Cylinder.mp4 |

Mike, When you get this project finished you should badge it as a "140-221" because 221 is two-thirds of 332... Chuck |

Hi the SC engine has a 12 volt shutoff solenoid in the end of the IP. You can see the wiring harness in one of the photos. The 3 cyl one I have used another solenoid connected by a rod to move the "throttle lever" My pump was set at 2400rpm so the Governor had to be adjusted to get to 3400 for cutting grass |

Still have not had anyone tell me the owners name of the 140 in the first pictures. Particularly interested to know what he did for mounts (solid or rubber) and a driveshaft. |

What do you guys think of solid vs rubber mounting? I dont see rubber mounts in the first pictures I posted unless they are under the engine. Would solid mounted rattle my teeth out? Seems "pretty" smooth when I was running it on the lawn, some shaking at idle but at speed it just purred like my 3 cylinder. |

Mike, Just from my experience I think solid mounting is better. I believe our 1968 140 is solid mounted and there is very little vibration, but once we get on our 300 it literaly shakes the "you know what" out of you!! Scott |

There just happened to be a 2 cylinder yanmar in a 140 at Little G that I got to see and feel. Seemed to be just fine solid mounted. Here is a video I took: http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/duwem/?action=view¤t=Yanmarin140.mp4 I think this will have to be a winter project, need to button up my 420 that I yanked the engine out to fix some oil leaks. |
