-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Im new here, but have been learning about my 332 here. Good inputs. My 332 is a 1988, I use for mowing and sometimes grading my drive with a box grader. It wants to overheat during mowing about 1/2 way through the 2 acres I cut. Deck is a 50". I thought the spindles were noisy, so I rebuilt them. That didnt help. It also has an overspeed drive pully that is about 5 to 7% faster than standard. I dont normally let the grass get overly long or heavy. It overheated in the spring and even now when the load is pretty light (Northeast ohio is drying out this summer). I do like to mow at full throttle and go pretty fast, maybe 1 acre per hour) but even running a little slower engine speed or not quite at full forward, the temp light comes on. To allow to cool, I normally bring the thottle all the way down to idle with blade off and sit for 4 to 5 minutes. It goes out and I can resume to completion. It had a new radiator last year. I did have a fuel problem , air into the system that I traced to a fuel pickup in the tank (saw that discussion about that here). I run with the sides on and the hood down. Any Ideas? Or am I just pushing it too hard? Thanks Bob McAnlis Ohio |

Are you keeping the pedestal screens clean? Clean the radiator screen? Blow out the radiator fins with compressed air? Dandelion and cottonwood fuzz around here plugs things up fast. Make sure you have good airflow through the radiator. |

Thanks Scott: Pedestal screens are clean as is the rad screen. I blew air through the fins as suggested. I dont think much was in there, but I will run tomorrow to see any improvement. Thanks Bob |

I will get a new thermostat. When I look into the radiator for flow, there is some flow. But I would consider the flow mild rather than aggressive. The engine was not very warm when I looked at this, so I will have to do that with it fully warmed up. Thanks Bob |

Bob, Here is my story. I hope it is not your problem but is worth consideration. I own a 322 and had similar problems. The engine always seemed to run too hot. I tried everything, but what fixed it was to replace the radiator. I went the route of having a radiator shop re-core it. Once the engine ran long enough to warm up, I could feel the difference in engine heat. Cost around $300 as I remember. Bob L. |

Thanks Bob. I looked in all my records. Thought I replaced the radiator, but did not. So now I have a rad, cap and thermostat coming. Bob |

Bob, Have you confirmed it is truly running hot? The problem could be a faulty sending unit if you are only going by the light. I bought mine several years ago and the light was coming on dim. I replaced the sending unit and it has been fine since. Just a thought. Good luck. Tom |

Thanks Tom. Not with a thermometer, but the first time it happened, I slowed it down, then off. Water was boiling in the rad. SO I started it again and let it idle to keep water moving. Bob |
