Has enyone ever mounted an aftermarket air cleaner on the outside of the engine compartment?
I have been thinking about using a 2" diameter 90 degree rubber elbow attached to the carb and then using 2" pipe and bending it to come out thru the side screen in the battery compartment and having a K&N filter clamped on the pipe. This should allow the engine to pull in cooler air. I was having a problem of running rich. I put on a new carb and it helped tremendously. I was reading some John Deere DTAC solutions that stated that a running rich problem could occur if the engine is running without a load (I don't have the deck on it) or running short periods of time (I have been doing this).
