Whenever I put the the throttle on high or anywhere from about 60 percent of throttle or higher it wants to vibrate down on me. This is on a tractor that I have mostly restored so far. I replaced the throttle cable and conduit. I am wondering if it is the screw/bolt in the mechanism behind the dash that the throttle handle attaches to. I've tried tightening it, but it doesn't want to tighten. The bolt/screw and the new just spin inside the "fitting" there. Do I need to replace that whole part? Or is this something to do with the governor? |

I have to look at mine again. I remember there being a rubber grommet or something in there. Seems to me there was a bolt and nut on mine. Either was tightening it to pinch the handle tighter is what you need to do. Scott |

Ben, hold the lock nut with a wrench and tighten the screw 1/4 turn at a time to increase friction. |

Scott - I didn't see any sign of a rubber grommet, but maybe its worn out completely. Mine has a screw head bolt and nut. Stan - I tried tightening it, but the nut won't move independently of the screw. I've tried some lubricant, but can't get it to budge at all. |

I looked at mine this morning there is what appears to be a rubber washer between the handle and the bracket. If you can't tighten the screw into the nut I'd cut it off and replace it. In order to resolve your problem that has to be tightened. Or, if the washer is gone taken apart to put a new one in. Scott |

Ben, unless it's very rusty it should move. It requires a wrench on the nut, a large Phillips screwdriver, and a couple of good grunts. |
