I've got a '68 112 that has some mower issues. Initially, the mower cuts good with no issues. After a while it will not cut any grass, just pushes it over. I am not experiencing loss of power from my engine. It has been fully rebuilt and runs great. My belts are new. I have tried adjusting the PTO to engage the mower but no luck. I am guessing that my PTO is slipping and slowly disengaging the mower. Does this sound right? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Jon |

sounds about right - you could put a bold white mark on your belt to see if you're able to judge whether or not it's slowing. manual or electric clutch? sounds like you better inspect your clutch lining - be a shame to burn it all up...not very hard at all to remove the manual pto - dunno about the electric. |

The electric is easier to remove and to adjust. Jon, which do you have? |

Jon, if it is a manual PTO and it's the manual PTO that's slipping, you need to adjust the bar so it's closer to the engine. The bar doesn't move very much between engaged and disengaged so don't go wild with this adjustment. There is an adjustment on each end of the bar and you want to keep the bar parallel to the engine. Shorten the adjustment on the end that's farther from the engine now. You will need to adjust the PTO brake after that. It is held on with a bolt under the frame. Good luck! |

The PTO is definitely slowing down. I tried the white mark and its very evident. When you're adjusting the bar to engage the PTO, the bar is parallel when it's engaged correct? Or is it parallel when not engaged? Sorry, I just moved and haven't found my manual. Thanks for the help. |

Jon, the bar doesn't move enough to make a noticeable change from parallel to not parallel. The bar is closer to the engine when the PTO is engaged. That is why you need to shorten one or both sides of the linkage to the bar. |
