Feel like I won the Championship Buckle the way my 84 430 is bucking. I replaced all the linkage and shock, there is no play and yet we have wild bucking especially at slower speeds, both fwd and rev. Am ordering the linkage over the trans rod (name?). What do you think? Could it be the release valves? Need HELP. After the open heart surgery the bucking is H!! Ron |

Are you sure the transmission is bolted tight to the frame. 430 transmissions are known to come loose and crack and elongate the mounting holes. This is especially true on the center one in the front. Roger |

Roger, just curious about your post concerning the loose transmission bolts on the 430's. Does this include the frame cross member in front of the transmission? I always thought that this was supposed to be "loose"? Should I be checking the rest of the transmission bolts on my 430? COL William, I hope you get your 430 fixed soon. Adam |

Adam, there were 2 different configurations of the cross support on the front. The earlier ones used 2 bolts that should be tight, the laters just one that had a shoulder on it. I would definitely check the ears on the rear of the frame where the axle tubes bolt down, those are what can break off. I would check the fluid level as well. |

I have an early model 420 with the two mounting bolts on the front of the hydro to the frame crossmember.. The "passenger side" I did not have rewelded. I figured I'd make my early style like the later models and only bolt the driver side. Would I leave this loose as Adam mentioned? Is there any difference between the newer and older front mounts? How loose should I leave the bolt? The reason I ask is that I heard the two bolt, early model, has a great chance to break as there isn't flex when going over uneven ground. This is why I was planning on using only three mounting positions as the later models used.(axles and left front)
