Romeo Isabelle Jr. - Thank you bud. I was suspicious about that bracket ever since I saw it but I wasn't totally sure. Boy, I'm not sure why in the world someone would do that to a mounting bracket but it takes all kinds.

Larry A. Decker - Good lookin' picture of your 214 and "Yes" I'm Thinking Spring.

John W. Smith - Nice 140 H3. Looks like it's in pretty darn good shape for sure. Nice lookin' clock too.

Larry F. Hall - That 317 looks pretty darn good as well.

John Lang - Happy New Year to you as well!!!

Drew Gardner - That's a great lookin' work crew you have there for sure!!! Serves you right for not havin' anything to do with your tractors by postin' that picture.

ROY SCHROEDER - That looks ((((((coooooooooold!))))))

AJ Thanks, I got my tires, ordered, and my front wheels, They should be in next week. I will post a pic when I get them put on

Harold/Roy On its way... Ha Ha Its been sunny here, but its been pretty cold. I wish we would get a little bit of snow, not to much though, I work for the Alabama Department of Transportation, and we just are not equipped to handle a big snow event.

OH BTW, Here is my new Plow Day Tractor LOL My family thought it would be funny to get me this for Christmas, YES I PLAYED WITH IT. LOL I have put in back in the box, I am going to save it for when me and my wife have kids...

Can someone tell me weather or not if I reg. my tractors if the ones already on there will be counted twice. I'm sure I must have reg. a couple before. I know that none were prev. owned by members. I should be able to add about 25. Don't want to screw up count.

Kenneth that was indeed taken apart at one time and repaired.
I have never seen a mule drive not have ears stick over.

The factory weld would have been a nice smooth weld as they were dome with nice wire feed welders

That one is done cold/dirty and probably with a little miller or something like that

Okay everyone,

Here's one for you guys/gals. I replaced the mounting bracket on a mule drive that came with my 316. Long ago when I pulled it off I knew it didn't look right since it was missing one side of the mounting bar. Does this bracket look familiar to anyone? Is it supposed to be this way? Was a special bracket like this used for something else? Why would it be made like this do you think? Was it pulled apart at one time and a new bar welded on?

The receiver bracket underneath the front of the tractor is fine. There's nothing as far as the mounting bracket slots are concerned that would warrant this bracket to be built this way. Since it almost looks like the rod is factory I was just curious to know if this was a special made bracket.

Thanks to all those who tried! For those who still need to, it only takes a couple of minutes!

Tom, if it is a two-stage it is surely not a 47 blower. My guess is he is probably talking about a model 46 blower which is basically a 49 blower that has a hydraulic chute added and I believe (but not positive) was made to fit the 420 (and 430?) but can also be made to fit the 318. If you look in the resto/hydro postings there is a thread on one right now !....Ed.

Tom.....That snow blower is either a 49 blower that will fit your 318. Or a 47 blower that will fit either the 420 or 318 with the proper frame mount I think. For that kind of money, I'm betting it's the 49.

Happy New Year all...

My question is about a snow blower advertised as a 47" that the seller say fits a 318,420 and 430. Says hydralic lift and chute. It is not a two stage. I have 318 and 420 and most likely will use it on the 420. Does this snow blower sound right for it? Seller is asking $375
Thanks

Bought a 49 blower today. It's seen better days and needs some TLC. I had to pay way too much for it.

But it came with a 1989 318 with a replacement LX770 Onan and a model 48 deck.

The 318 shows 2600hrs on the clock and the tractor shows it. Other than needing the starter improvement kit everything seems to work fine. Sparks flew out of the chain cover on the blower when I engaged the PTO, so I bet it needs some lube. The tech at the dealer said it's been sitting on the lot a LONG time.

Doing the math on Chris's post, 10,000 tractors divided by 4,300 owners, averages out to 2.3 tractors per owner. Seeing how as I only have one, I have fallen down on the job. Sorry, I vow to try to do better.

Mike, it's right above the crankshaft. It's behind the PTO bracket if you have a PTO mounted on the engine.

Stephen, thanks for the explanation. I have a 241 and a 301 on the bench right now and I could not find any difference but the bore and valves. after reading your post I went out and checked, the 241 block is stamped 301. I know so little.

Jimmy, If you don't mind a short and explosive engine life, you can bore them out and put a block girdle on them like the pullers do. So far as I know there was only one situation where you could bore out a Kohler engine to a larger size. Some of the K241's were made from K301 castings. They would have K241 on the shroud but K301 on the block. Those could be bored out to the K301 diameter.

Ed, I shoot base-clear and single stage acrylic enamel with mine and I use a 1.4 tip. I use 60 to 65 psi at the gun because it cuts down on the "orange peel". The smaller the tip, the less air pressure at the gun, The bigger the tip, the more air pressure. If you don't care about orange peel, use whatever you feel comfortable with. Please keep in mind that if you are using a gauge on the wall and not on the gun, you will lose 10 to 15 psi for every 50ft of hose. Also, if you have a "cheater valve" instead of a diaphram style regulator, pull the trigger back to the first stop to get a true reading on your gauge. Remember High Volume Low Pressure does not mean low inlet pressure. Sorry for the long winded post. Jim

Jimmy you can't bore it that far as the wall thickness varies with the bore sizes when the blocks were cast. They were cast different and are not all the same casting even thought most of the other parts will interchange. You would probably end up with a thin casting and have problems. 14 HP K321 blocks are not hard to find. Roger

If the k241 thru k321 blocks are the same can a k241 block be bored to the 3.500 for a k321? If so that sure would be nice.

Ed, I always shoot base / clear with ours, I use the .13 tip, and you'll want to reduce your air to around 40 psi at the gun. They spray real nice!

I just went and got my serial numbers from my 212 and the mower deck. I wanted to register the tractor for my donation to the end of year count. Mower deck has a cool serial number. After looking at it pretty close, I am thinking the deck is going to need some sheet metal work.
