Charlie
Sorry to hear the bad news. I have had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. I have also had it where the person has said he has had several offers of more money but he was going to stick with the price he had. I looked in my phone book and didn,t see a listing for that name.

Roy.. I'm with Al. That is a very nice tractor. Other models seem to get all the press and we don't always appreciate how awesome the 110 and 112 flat fenders actually are. Back in the early 70's my first rider was a crummy Sears with a 6 hp Briggs pull start engine. I don't recall ever mowing my lawn without having to fix something. I couldn't afford one at the time so all I could do was daydream about having a sweet machine like that 112 of yours.

Paul,
Check to see how much pressure you have. I have a 316K that i have had a loader on for about 2 years and i upped the pressure without any problems

I saw that one Philip. Emailed and no response.

Ahhh you didn't see that one in Martinsburg? It was a 318/50" 54 dual angle plow and Jarco bagger,,,listed for 2000. I called as the new owner was just leaving with it.

Now don't ask me to give up all my Deere hunting secrets Philip.

AL Z.
Thanks . It is my favorite Deere right now. Tiller works good, and I just added the right side extension to it.
I'm also building a hydraulic lift for it, and when I get it working, I'll do a posting on it.
I'm waiting for a pressure relief valve.

Roy Schroeder- That is a very nice looking 112. I sold mine last summer, may have to look for another. Really like the tiller option. Does that tiller work good? Al Z

Happy birthday WFM. Doesn't seem like 8 years!

Man-O'-Man... The pot is calling the kettle black.... No one likes being wronged and what transpired was less than ethical; no excuse for that as a man should stick by his word. However, let's put the situation into a real-life perspective; many of you know what I am throwing out here.. Do you believe in Karma? I do! Sometimes you get what you give.

Charlie - That is why i think it is a bad idea to allow "whats it worth" ads. Some guy probably told him it was worth "a grand" without ever seeing it or knowing what was wrong with it. With any luck he will post a ridiculous price and get 20 tire kickers, then call you back. A bird in hand.....

Greg H.
I've got an email stating that the 110 was mine and was going to pick it up Saturday.
Then this morning, the JERK calls and says that no less than 8 guys that emailed him and told him he sold it way to cheap!
So he's going to relist it for a higher price!

Here's email proof,

quote:

Hi,
Thanks for your offer, it put you first in line! I would request
cash for the transaction.
If you would like to ask any questions, I can be reached at 612 840-8xx3.
Evenings before 10 PM are best, I am super busy during the day at work right
now. Of course, email is fine.

Would you be available to come and have a look late morning this Saturday?
Thanks,
Jeff Burrows

So just in case you deal with this guy, you better live within 5 minutes of him (Pillager,Mn)and be there before others email and tell him he sold it to cheap again! LOL

I recently purchased a 1978 JD 316 Kohler with a Johnson 10C Workhorse loader. Yes, I know that John Deere tractors were never painted burgundy, and I have that on my list of things to fix. My question is about the loader. It is powered by the on board hydraulics and I am wondering if there are suggestions to improve the loaders lifting capacity. I can currently lift about 200 pounds, but I should be able to lift 350 or more. Also, are there any problems with this configuration that I should be warned about. Thanks. The mark in the center of the weights is the "Speristar" was the symbol logo of the Sperry corporation, who owned New Holland at that time.

robert, matt k is right
they are sperry new holland weights.... the double x in the middle of the weights it the old logo. i've got a few sets myself.
if you run the weights with the logo turned in they do look almost identical to jd weights, minus the jd number cast into them.

either way, good find for 50 smackers

later

Robert. This is the later 31 tiller. The mounting bracket is different than the early 31. The early 31 is a 30 mounted to another bracket so it can be used on the later tractors.
Thats why you have the mule drive for the later tractor too.

On the tiller. The pervious owner had it with a 216 mower and said it came with it when he got it from some in-laws. He even had a book on how to mount the 31 to the 216 tractor. But when I got it home I found the tag under the rear flap. Tag says. Model 30. Serial# 3811. Is there anyway to tell the year by the ser. #?

Robert Bell,
I believe the previous owner is correct on the tiller being an early model 31.The decal is wrong for a model 30 as they should be the 4 legged decal. If the serial # tag is still attached you will find it by raising the rear flap,if it is still there let us know what the #s are.
Happy belated Birthday WFM.

Robert, the "bracket thing" is an intermediate drive, this is used with the 31 tiller on the SF110/112's and the 200 series.

Had a busy last few days thought I would share my finds. First I sold my extra 3pt plow. On the way to deliver it I stopped to check on some weights that were in a local ad.

Pretty sweet for $50 and a good way to start the day. Don't know much about them other than they are Deere.
So I drop off the plow. Stop by a friends and pick up some new to me tires and wheels for the truck. And get a call while I'm there to come look at a 10" Brinly sleeve plow. Another bonus, picked it up for $30.

So I get home put the tires on and go for a drive. See a yellow tiller sitting out in a yard. Stop and ask and the Guy says It's a Model 31 and shoots me a good price. So I load it up. Get it home turns out to be a Model 30. Even better because I have something it will fit
.
It came with I bracket and pulley. I have no idea what it fits.

But a friend of mine has the bracket and the Lift I need for my 65 110 to make the tiller work. And he wants to trade for the plow. So I'm pretty happy.

Sorry to ramble on but it was a good day and I needed to share

Rob & Mike:
Congratulations on WFM's 8th anniversary, and sincere wishes for many more. I have enjoyed lurking and participating in a minor way for several years. The knowledge and good humour found here is as valuable as the JD tractors and hobby we all enjoy so much.
Thanks for your efforts and devotion.

I cannot tell you how many happy hours I have spent on this site. Well run, well organized and responsive. Lovely pictures, much enjoyment, fun and laughter. Very interesting and useful information, particularly to me in "remote" South Africa. The (unbelievable) 10,000 certainly came up quickly. Here's to the future:Long live this site!!

Thanks for the compliment - And a bigger thanks to John Moore for helping me load it up on my trailer last February. Zero degrees, stone dead battery, flat tires, wheel weights and stuck bypass valves made for a memorable time.

Lawrence, I don't know about your connecting rod, but you should start a thread in the restoration and repair section under gear drive tractors. It makes it a lot easier to follow responses as you will have a dedicated thread to your question.

John K. Ooohhh, I wish I had your set-up. That snowblower looks like it could eat my little 112 and blower..lol

The number of posts for the 'WFM Rules - The Boss wants to know' thread over in the Corner Store is at 69. Pretty good response in a very short time. Looks like the yes-no's have it. So far anyway.

Has anyone swapped a single cylinder Kohler into a 317 that had a KT17 series 1?

hey jon.... welcome to wfm

here are a few threads discussing sprayers that might be helpful to you.

i used the search function at the top of the page and typed in sprayer, it would most certainly benefit you to play around
in the search function as it will open up tons and tons of useful info

good luck

later
andy

Hi guys
I'm looking for a little help with sprayers. I have a '67 or so 5a sprayer and I just picked up what I think is a 5 sprayer. It has the fixed boom and the date stamp on the engine is 1962. Is there any way to tell if this is exactly what it is? I have not been able to find a tag on it and was curious if they originally came with one? Any help is appreciated!

John,
Great looking tractor- I particularly like the look of ag tires all around. That's what I plan for my 420 loader tractor for this year. Very nice restoration job you've done there.

JRL,
Thanks. This thing will easily reach second story windows - gotta be real careful when helping the neighbors. One thing great about winter - no mosquitoes!

John K...
That looks like it should do the job moving your snow. It looks great too! IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TO MOVE, COME OUT MY WAY TONIGHT. We in the midst of a good ol' fashioned blizzard! This afternoon on the way home in my Jeep Wrangler,I went into the ditch and had to be pulled out by my neighbor with a big pickup with a snow blade. Fortunately I had my big HD tow strap along and got out easily. Viseability and the wind was the problem. I couldn't see where I was going and the wind blew me off the road after making it through a huge 3 ft. deep drift of snow. The road was also covered with ice! Not fit for man or beast out today here. Had a hard time standing on the road in the strong wind gusting to over 50 MPH.

Winter, I love it!~ :-)

Wife can't make it home tonight so I have lots of time to surf the web etc.! :-)

Life is good, all the animals are fed and everyone is safe around here anyway.

Harold,

That thing is cute. Just about the perfect size for my little place in town.
