Will I would say the other flaw with posting local ads is who is going to know you are not promoting your own items which is what I thought the classifieds were for. This is the one forum that i belong to that these type of rules ( would include what is it worth) are enforced and I personally like it. The other forums a full of for sale and other junk items constantly. People get sick of it and leave because the forums become a sales pitch not the original reason for their existence. Roger

Hey Roger read over no. 6 .... it says a NON craiglist local listing

Last week I bought a 400 from a local internet site and later John Haines a WFM neighbor called me and said the ad was also posted on WFM .... which is true but I am not saying where.

The site rules do not forbid local (non Craiglist) listings that I can see .... HOWEVER for the reason you state ..... might be a good idea. Maybe Robb will weigh in here later .... I sent him mail.

Will the theory behind number 6 is lets say I see something I want on Craigs list and before I have a chance to reach the seller you post it here. A couple of things can happen. First someone who did no research buys it our from under me or maybe the seller get 100 people call about it. The seller then decides with that much interest the $50 item is now worth $500. Ask me how I know the second can happen. It didn't happen because of this forum but did happen to me on a bicycle I would have liked to own. I collect bikes also. Roger

Steve are you sure a model 38 38 inch round fender deck is compatible with a flat fender tractor which takes a model 39 38 inch deck ?

I posted on sunday trying to find out what decks will fit a 69 110. I've found a 39" off a 67. Will this deck work? Also is $400 to much for one. Till I get this tractor running and buy a deck I think I can buy one ready to go. I'd rather do it myself, then I know what I have. But now I'm not so sure. What do you guys think?

Scott
Click the forums button and then find the events calendar and find the Pa. Plowday posting and the motel information should be there. I plan for the first time to attend the fun pull on Friday and stay at a motel and then Plow Saturday. I have a 3 hour drive straight down I-80.

Did you view the youtube ?
I think I will go view it again .... So fun to watch.

We have participants from all bordering states. Some just bring show tractors. I think we had just over 100 tractors last year with about 75% having mounted plows.

It is a great place to meet and have great conversations. Fun to watch those new to the sport learn to plow and fun to compare equipment.
Also have some teenagers plowing.

Scott.... it is worth the trip, Ohio plowdays are in the Fall. Last year Pa. Plowday plowed 25 acres in 6 hours with about 75 tractors plowing. I am hoping to bring an extra tractor but if I don't am always willing to share mine and there are others there who will lend a tractor for a few rounds.

Go to youtube and search Pa plowday

also check events forum on this site and Plowday.net will have plow event listing later this spring.

Also there is a plowday the weekend following Pa. Plowday at Ft. Allen which is Just south of Pittsburgh. This event is actually a vintage farm machinery show and a simultaneous gathering of the Cub Cadet club. Farm tractors, horses and garden tractors plowing in the same field.

Hey all,

Is there an Ohio Plow Day?

I am off Saturday April 17th, so I guess I may be able to come then to Danville, Pa but it is a 6 1/2 hour drive. I have never been to one and won't have a tractor with a plow to bring, but I really would like to meet everyone.

Would it make sense for me to come just for one day and just stand on the sideline?

NOTICE:

I have noticed as I have cruised around this site that there is some confusion about the WFM site rules concerning reposting of eBay and Craiglist ads.

Frankly I also am a bit confused about what is permissible so I am asking some questions here and I will send Robb an email so that he can respond to my questions.

Question scenario 1
I have a John Deere listed on Ebay but I reserve the right to sell outright locally. I also have the tractor listed in WFM classifieds with a set price but I do not mention that it is also listed on eBay. A WFM member agrees to buy the tractor and I pull the Ebay listing before auction ends.
Does this violate WFM rules ?

Question scenario 2
I have a John Deere listed on Craiglist and also on WFM classifieds but on WFM site I say nothing about the Craiglist ad.
Does this violate WFM rules ?

Question scenario 3
I Have an ad on Craiglist or see some other person has an ad for a JD tractor. I post a message in WFM classifieds urging others to view the craiglisting.
Does this violate WFM rules ?

Question scenario 4
I have a JD tractor listed on eBay and I post in WFM classifieds a notice that I have this tractor in an eBay auction.
Does this violate WFM rules ?

Question scenario 5
I notice while browsing eBay auction a great buy on a JD tractor that I have no interest in so I announce it on WFM site thinking another WFM member might get a great deal on ebay.
Does this violate WFM rules?

Question scenario 6
I see a great deal in a local non Craigslist listing for a JD I have no interest in buying and I post a notice on WFM site so other WFM members might get to buy it.
Does this violate WFM rules.

..... These are my questions and if you also can ad to this please do so. I am sending Rob mail so he is alerted

Thanks

Just wanna say, I HATE missing opportunities on tractors!

Could have gotten a 91 318 with less than 200 hrs. on an engine rebuild, 50" deck, 4-way blade, wheel weights, and an extra set of bar tires for $1400. In EXCELLENT shape.

Called my dad to confirm he wanted it, and after 5 minutes of me leaving this guys house, i gave the seller a call back and another guy showed up and handed him cash and took it. 5 minutes!!! ARRGHHH! Not the sellers fault, but dang it i hate missing them.

Sorry about the rant, had to blow off some steam somewhere. I'll go back to pouting in my room...

Quinten

hey loren

i forgot to mention that there are two different styles of the sleeve hitch, one for round fender 110-112's and then the later style for the square fender and closed frame hydro tractors.

if you go to the top of the page and click on the gallery link then go into the link that says "Album: A Album of John Deere Factory Accessories" and then scroll down to the bottom of the page, it'll show a pic of the two versions.

later

Loren the integral is used on late 100 and all 200 series gear drive tractors along with the hydros I listed. The gear drives however use a different lift linkage. The hydros use a lift bar that like you said attaches to the rock shaft that lifts the deck.

Integrals used go for $100- $120 typically and the lift bar for hydros is about $40 used.

Some of the site sponsors sell new links for the hydros and I think also have new integrals.

Will,
Thanks for the input and the WFM welcome. From the research i have done I had already decided on the integral hitch, but a 3-point just came up and as you said, it would look pretty sweet. I guess I should just keep watching for a sleeve hitch. On that note, the sleeve hitches use a lifting bar that attaches to the "deck lift", am I right? Also, what would be a good ballpark figure to pay for a decent integral? I really have no prior knowledge of this stuff if you cant tell. This site has been a huge help though.

Thanks

Loren welcome to WFM !!!

The 3ph for model 140 is the same as for 312 314 317 and single cylinder 316 model tractors. You will need a rear hydraulic port to use the 3ph so if your tractor is not equipped with rear outlets you will need them.

I have a 140 with integral hitch but last year I bought a package deal of equipment that included 3ph. My opinion is go with the integral hitch .... they are much less expensive and easier to use and hookup time is much less. I plow at the plow days and will continue to use my integral. The 3ph is more adjustable than the integral but other than that I see no great advantage. The JD tiller for that tractor is quick hitch and Brinly 10 inch plows are all sleeve hitch along with some disks and cultivators so you hardly need 3ph. Brinly 3ph plows are all 12 inch and anyway that is a lot of plow for a 140 ..... they will pull it though but requires more wheel weight and some front weight. I plow with a 10 inch Brinly and no front weight... and about 100 lbs weight on each rear wheel.

I think the 3ph is more of a prestige thing... we like that tough big tractor look !!!!

Hello everybody,
One quick question. I recently bought a "fixer-upper" 140 H3. I am looking at a 3-point for it and was wondering if the 3-points from any other models will fit the 140, like the 316 maybe? Any advice as to 3-point or sleeve hitch, which would be better? I would appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Loren

One of the guys posted some pictures of straightening an engine cover by prying with a chisel and tapping with a body hammer. Since I don't have that kind of finesse and I don't want to try my luck, and since I have six newly-painted engine covers to stretch I built a stretcher. It allows me better control of the process.

Stretcher

It's a little crude but it worked on four engine covers. The picture shows an ugly panel I had left over.

If it doesn't work, I will try something different.

Robert, if you mean front (snow) plow, the blade will fit on the frame but the lift is different. The 140 and 300-series use a hydraulic lift blade.

John Moore,
Nice looking TruPowers. Are they 26x12x12's? If so, the best part is with the recessed seating bead they are recommended to be installed on 8 1/2 inch wide rims. You don't need to look for wider rims. Good luck with the new work boots. LOL

How many hours can you reasonably expect from a 430 diesel without a rebuild? Also are there any problems that are inherent to these tractors as far as excessive maintenance expenses or other issues to look for? Adam

Hi John, Out of curiosity, I just googled the description you guys gave for the package and one of the earlier ads for it came up with a price. I made up the $799, the ad price was for slightly more than that. ($800)

The second ad he listed did not show a price, so I guess I'd offer less than the $799 if I were interested in buying it.

You must have been snooping around NY CL today?

Chris
The CL add shows no price,JRL must of called. If the price is $799.00, that seem reasonable!!
I see you live in Vernon. I work in Vernon and might know where you live.

I just bought a 69 110 w/ manual lift. The deck is junk. What all decks will fit under this tractor. I'd like to stay w/ a 39", but am having a hard time finding one. How big a deck will the 8hp kohler run? Any help would be appreciated.

so from that response John, I'd say you think that the asking price is a pretty good one.

Hey all, Have not been on the site in quite a while and think they deleted my sign in info ... anyway ... what would be a decent price for a 312 in pretty decent shape (looks like it's been garaged most of its life) that comes with a 39" snowblower attachment and 41" mowing deck according to owners measurements?? Just interested to see what you all would pay for something like that. Thanks

edit: it also comes with wheel weights and chains.

Grant, Thank you for your help.
I've spent close to 6 hours on the site going through the archives and then running outside to check the tractor, which is a 1969 Model 112 serial #150935.

This is what I've found so far. The tiller is a Model 30 brass tag # 8449.

The pulley assembly is called a "mule" and is the type that looks like it is bent. By the way, one of the pulleys on this assembly is bent a little and rubs on the bracket a little. Hope I can straighten/flatten it.

I have found many pictures of Model 112's with Model 31 tillers, but haven't had much luck with the 112/30 combination.

I had knee surgery a little while ago, so I'm hoping I can get my son to give me a hand getting the mower deck off and then we will see if the mule I have attaches to the bottom.

The belts that are on the tiller are pretty bad, but they should be good enough to check for alignment and fit (I hope).

Anyone know where I can find a manual or pictures or drawings, online, that show everything that I should have and where it goes?

Thanks again.
Ken
